"Dude - how'd you get her to sleep with you?!"

"I don't know, it must have been the roses deodorant."

NPR today:

When you think of the Grateful Dead you might not think fresh scent. The deodorant line is handmade and vegan. The fragrances have names like Skull & Roses and Sunshine.

Good morning. I'm David Greene. So the Grateful Dead are launching a deodorant brand, which is not particularly on-brand. It's true - when you think of the Dead, you don't right away think fresh scent. But the line is handmade, small-batch and vegan. The fragrances have names like skull and roses and sunshine, overtones of lavender and rose and blood orange and bergamot, respectively. All this meaning your armpits can now glow with the gold of sunshine.

The CNN on-line story has a pic circa 1976 with Keith & Donna, labeled from the 1960s. The guy making this stuff claimed to be a Deadhead since way back in 1999. "Wow, you were into the Dead way back when Jerry had only been dead for four years! Wow!"

Bill, tgo

It's funny. I sent the NPR article link to all of my Deadhead family and friends.

Most enjoyed it and laughed. A couple replied angrily that it's selling out and what product's next?

I'm with those who enjoyed it and laughed. For musicians, generally, there's no significant money anymore in releasing recordings. It's all about touring and swag.

If more musicians can augment their incomes by selling fun/funny branded products that no one has any obligation to buy if they don't like them, who is that hurting?
