I'm making a 7 string guitar with 2 humbuckers and a single coil (like wolf) and would like suggestions for pickups that will carry a similar tonal profile to Jerry. I know he used Super II's, but there is no 7 string super II. My best choice, I think, for high treble 7 string humbucker pickups are here:

As for the SDS-1 in the neck, again there is no 7 string SDS-1. I think my best option is to get a custom single coil from Seymour Duncan and ask to make it as close to the sds-1 as possible.

Any suggestions appreciated.

It looks like those Duncans all use Alnico 5 bar magnets, whereas the Super 2 uses a ceramic magnet. Not sure how much difference that makes?

What about Dimarzio’s D Activator 7? It seems to have “numbers” close to the Super II, and has a ceramic magnet, hex pole pieces, etc.

Probably worth contacting Dinarzio to see if they can tell you which is closest, or maybe they even have a custom shop which can make you a 7-string Super 2, if that’s what you’re after.

I don’t think you’re going to get the same tone from a PAF based on my own somewhat limited experience. Even when split, they always sound/feel kind of “mushy” to me, where the Super 2's are articulate, snappy, and responsive — more likely a Fender pickup.
