Hello,

Does anyone have any experience with the Eric Johnson Stratocaster pickups? I have an opportunity to pick up a used EJ Strat (but can't really play it under ideal conditions for checking them out. I am not going for a Jerry tone per se, but his late 72 sound (Veneta) is what I hear in my head when I think of Stratocaster tones.

In my humble opinion its the greatest production strat ever made consistently. By fender. Ill put it up against any year for qc.

The stories of what he put them through during r&d are well known you could find one of the first couple years snag it.

They sound like a good vintage strat should.

Thanks for the reply; I appreciate the comments. That guitar certainly has its fans.

The guitar I have seen is a more recent one... I think 2017. Did the design change vs the earlier model years, or is it a general Fender Q/A issue that makes you recommend the earlier ones?
