This thing is possessing me. It is gorgeous, and has that Eagle look. Add my Wald buffer, 25k volume pot, Dimarzio Super Distortions, and perhaps an SDS-1, or a D. Allen Voodoo 69 in that middl single coil spot, and I bet it would sound very nice. I wouldn’t have the effects loop, as I would be hesitant to drill hole for the stereo jack, but maybe? The fact that the body is basswood may be a negative? What do you all think of this unique guitar?

Beautiful guitar, but:

1) I hate floyd style tremolo beidges, and don't think there's much justification for having one on a Jerry guitar
2) I don't get along with wizard necks. Way too skinny for my tastes; makes my hand ache

That's about as un-Jerry a guitar as you're going to find. But I learned to play on an Ibanez RG and I will always have a soft spot for them. That one's a beauty.

Agreed with all above points. One thing I will add is that in my limited experience with those types of Ibanez guitars is the action is normally set very low and the frets themselves are often low. This alone creates a big challenge for playing Garcia type music. Much of his particular way of expressing notes with his finger tips is due to high action and high frets. The vidrato should come from the fingers not the Floyd rose whammy bar.
if You love the guitar and can’t live with out it, then get it and find out for yourself. It is beautiful for what it is.

I do want to add that I have a Phiga Bolt, a Phred Wolph, and a Yamaha Strat that have all been Jerrified. The Phred Wolph has D. Allen Voodoo 69’s, Brass nut, harmonica bridge, and a stratoblaster on board. It is currently my main guitar. So, I already have what I need for Jerry tones, but am intrigued by this Ibanez. I own a wald buffer, Dimarzio Super Distortions and Super II's. I wouldn't have to spend any money on modding the Ibanez.

I do play with grit, and like to dig in to get that Jerry snap, and this may be an issue with the Ibanez and its low action.

Given what you already have, if you're intrigued by the Ibanez, why not? Like everyone else, though, I'd expect the neck carve and frets to be the limiting factors. If you can't try one first but can buy one with the ability to return it for any reason, you can give it a try before deciding to keep and mod it.

Agreed with everything above. The only thing Jerry about this is the H/S/H pickup configuration. For the money, find a nice Ibanez Musician and have it Jerrified.

The Carvin DC 200 and 400 are also very nice guitars.

And what about a Troy Post guitar? Is he still making them?

Ewww… ugly. Might make it as a Bobby guitar, but I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole.

Eeek,,,,,I was gonna say the same. More of a Bob axe but even a tad too dark for Bob too.

I dig that neck.

And at $1200...it could be a killer Frankenproject.

I think it looks hypnotic. Pull the trigger, and post a clip. If you like Ibanez, you can't miss. 10 to nothing that lil geetar can make passels of different types of sounds; and if you were to play Dead type sounds with it, it may even seem striking.

I don't think basswood is a negative thing. All wood is different.
Not something I would buy, BUT>>>
If you have the Jerry thing down already.....
I believe that the relationship with a guitar is a very personal thing. If you are moved by this ax, then get it! You probably will play it passionately. I had a $500 washburn hollowbody practically jump off the rack at me one time. There was an identical one right next to it that played/sounded horrible. Back to the first one and pure magic! I bought it on the spot. I did a bunch of mods to it, yes, but that thing is still so special to me. I will never part with it.
So if it's screaming at you... get it!
