I always cringed a little bit when Jerry would get that HUGE rise out of the crowd at "Somewhere in San Francisco," ... at a show outside the Bay area. At shows in IL or NY or GA or wherever, you know only maybe 5% of the people attending have lived in or have any connection to SF, so what's up with the hooting and hollering? But I suppose that's just my vicious streak of fuddy-duddyism rearing its ugly head. I also greatly prefer the teased out versions of Wilson from before about 93-94 when the de facto consensus was formed that the crowd MUST begin chanting "Wilson" upon the 2nd measure of the intro beat. Blah.
"There, in huge black letters, was 'The Grateful Dead'. It just... cancelled my mind out."-Garcia
