Musical Theory Abound!!!

I stumbled on this the other day and it got me thinking, Jerry's solo's from time to time sound a whole lot like a pedal steel player. Check out the riffing on HWAFOM, pretty reminiscent of the 90's Masterpiece riffing. I realize the timing overlap of the '69 recording and his now famous work for CSN, but it seem as if it was a trick he kept up his short black sleeve.

So is this just a double stop? and if so is he just grabbing the same note one oct up? I'm sure there are some good tele chicken' pickin' youtubes out there, but if you guys have any insight I'd be glad to hear it.

The '69 show almost sounds like he has some slide in there ...
I love that side of Jerry -bends like the Playin verse riff ....
For what its worth the gratefulguitar lesson guy gets into Jerry pedal steel bends - what notes to grab ,the hold a note while bending another , the pre-bend stuff - pretty insightful stuff

I'm not sure if there is some slide or not ... here and there maybe ?
I never heard that before - it's pretty cool
so much depth to Jerry's playing

So after spending a bit of time on this problem today what I found, in respect to the the Masterpiece solo anyway, is he's grabbing the G and the High E and pre bending them at the same time while in the triade chord shape. that's a quick and dirty anyway from my feeble mind. it's pretty great sound/lick once you get it down.

Yeah, Jer does his share of Pedal Steel bends on guitar. He liked the sound of Pedal Steel.
He also does that on Senor with JGB, and on the Eyes from Without a Net I think.
For Eyes, he uses the top two strings of the EMaj7 chord over the 12th fret.
Start with a two-string half-step-up pre-bend, then release:
E|--/12\11--
B|--/13\12--
G|----------
D|----------
A|----------
E|----------

Go directly to ~3min-20sec of this vid and listen close at 3:30.
Watch him riff, pause, set up the pre bend, then pluck and release:

Pete, thanks for totally making my day. I had no idea there was video out there of that Eyes. I'm a huge fan of that version, soooo epic.

once you start listening for those double stop bends (I'll call 'em) they show up everywhere.
