For those interested I pulled this from Jerry solo 4-10-82 Cap. Theatre, NJ. I just listened again. It's relatively close.

Thanks for this info Billbill. I love this song and show (the late one). I just picked up this show and it's phenomenal. Top 5 show of my collection.

Don't mention it. Though it's nice that you did.
Play power to the music.

Nice link. I had't seen that one.

Probably one of my favorite Jerry tunes. I learned this off of a Jerry solo acoustic show, unfortunately neither the tape or the case is labeled. So much for organization. I'll try to track the particulars.

Small differences with e-bick's version.

First, and mostly cosmetic, I think the Am7 is a C with a G bass & G 5th and the Bb7 is a G7 with the D 5th. E-Bick's diagrams are right and voice the most important portion of the form. I just keep the G bass and G (3) on the high E string throughout. Not a big deal although it does give a more subtle flavor.

They would look like this-

C w/Gbass (& 5th (G))-------------G7 w/ 5th(D)
e---------3---------------------------3
b---------1---------------------------3
g---------0---------------------------0
d---------2---------------------------3
a---------X---------------------------X
e---------3---------------------------3

Edited 4/29/05 - Bold represent corrections. Don't know what I was thinking with that 2 on the b and 4! on the d for a C w/ Gbass shape! Got my head up my ass! WB

Getting that G bass on the G7 takes practice and it's not a must. I use my thumb. You could also use your index finger and the pinky E-3, ring B-3, and middle for D-3.

I don't think they appear on the next line, "I wonder..."
Instead of Am7--Bb7--C - I think it's simply G7--C

I Wonder what they did there
G--------------G7---------C---
e---------------1---------0
b---------------3---------1
g---------------0---------0
d---------------0---------2
a---------------2---------3
e---------------3----------

I also do a Csus4 over "been" in "Must've been..." in the verse and over "you" in "I'm telling you so.." in the bridge. While I'm pretty sure I heard it on the tape this can be looked at as a preference.

Here's some additional tab filler for those so inclined.

Verse:

Just...Gomorrah-----------------I wonder....
-----------------G----------------------------
e-------------------------------------------
b------------------------------------------
g--------------------------0---------------
d---------------------0h2--------------
a-----------------------------------------
e------------------3----------3-----------

--------------Must've been.....
C--------C------------------
e--------------
b--------------
g--------------
d-------------
a----0-2-3--
e-3-3-3-3-------

---been a bad thing----- to get shot...for
---Csus4---G-----------------G---F-----C--------------Bb-F...
e----1-----------------------3---1-----0--0------------
b----1--------1-0------------0---1-----1--1------------
g----0------0-------0---0----0---2-----0--0-------0----3-2
d----3--------2-0----0h2-----0---3-----2--2----0h2-----3-3
a----3-----------------------2---3-----3--3--3---------
e----------3------3-------3--3---1---------------------

Lead is mostly Gmaj w/flat 7th (F) and Cmaj. Don't forget a conservative dose of chromatics.
When in Cmaj its best to forget the 7th although both the flat 7th (Bb) and 7th (B) can be played if approached in a cohesive fashion.

I also drop in blues pen phrasings in both G and C for a grittier edge here and there. Chromatics work within this also.

Comments or critcism welcome.

Just a song of Gomorrah, I wonder what they did there

Must've been a bad thing to get shot down for

I wonder how they blew it up or if they burned it down
Get out, get out Mr. Lot and don't you look around.

Who gave you your orders, someone from the sky
I heard a voice inside my head in the desert wind so dry

I heard a voice tellin' me to flee
The very same voice I always believe
Said alot of trouble's comin',
But it don't have to come to you
I'm telling you so you can tell
The rest what you've been through.

But don't you turn around, no, don't look after you
It's not your business how it's done, you're lucky to get through

You're a good upstanding man, a credit to the flock
But if you don't face straight ahead you could not take the shock

Blew the city off the man, left nothing there but fire
The wife of Lot got turned to salt, because she looked behind her.

Donna Jean Godchaux-Mackay sang a wonderful Gomorrah with Steve Kimock on guitar, Pete Sears on keys, Martin Fierro sax,Judge Murphy vocal, etc. ...Because she looked behind her...simply an incredible moment.

Bill from the looks of the tab with hammers in the chords it looks to be what im lookin for but the tab is a little messy with the spaces and such. maybe its just on my screen? If not since you know how it should be could you fix it if its not too much trouble? Im dyin to get this song down.

Oops - didn't see this before posting in the other thread. Try the setting change if it's extending to another line. ie too long for one line and then it goes to the next line. I'm not explaining this well but if you get what I mean give it a shot and let me know. If it's just that it needs to be spread out a bit I could probably do it, but the sequence seems to be right. There's one small thing I might tweak involving where the bass G is hit toward the end but I'll have to give another listen before I'd do that.

Bill its exactly that. Its not spread out enough. if you could do that id be much obliged. Some notes in the tab are on top of each other when Im kinda thinkin you didnt want them to be. So if you could help out thatd be great. thanks!

Nice! I havent tried it yet but playin it through my head it looks perfect. There is one minor difference I think ive heard before. I think there is a hammer on the first F chord as well as the second as you have shown. Sometimes not but Ive heard two hammers during the Bb F F C part. Not sure if its both F's or if ones at the Bb. But im pretty sure its both F's. Know anything about that?
