thanks. Sound descriptive words are a challenge for me but.... it sounds rounder or glassier or smoother maybe. Is the noticeable difference more from the amp or the speaker load (mis)match?

Both of those are intermingled, and the results is pushing the JBL's to their limits and he is loud as fuck! I think it was Phil that talks about those loud years in his book.
