With a stereo amplifier, Is it preferable to run both a left channel and right channel output to the speakers, or would it be better to connect the speakers in parallel or series and run a mono output on the amp? What effect would different wiring have on the sound? Thanks!

If the left and right channels have the same input- is it really "stereo"??

The question Is more about the perceived audible affect that mono/stereophonic has when wiring for output to speakers from the amplifier, if there is any. The source and input could be both left and right channel, or mono with just right channel.

Likewise, is there any audible difference in wiring the speakers in series or parallel, or is just a matter of correct impedance?

IMO, there are 3 good reasons to run stereo
1 Power or impedance matching/optimizing/protecting
2 If you are running stereo effects - and both speakers are mic'd and panned foh
3 You don't change the volume of the mic'd speaker but tweak the volume of the other for stage fill

My main 2x12 I have wired so if 1 jack is used it's mono, if both, stereo
