Where do you live and are you buying the guitar retail?

That's a larger price tag and you'll have many guitars as options in that price range?

The scale length on this ibanez is the same as on your strat.
I thought I posted something earlier but must have hit cancel instead of post  , but i was going to say check out the esp's. they make some nice looking guitars with a 24 3/4 scale. Also jackson makes some that length and i believe some shorter---also do neck thru models as does esp. and gibson is the original 24 3/4.
test'em first tho because a lot of shredders use the xtra jumbo frets that aren't for everyone.

sorry if i posted before

Live in NJ. $1500 is my max range.

Not buying anything yet. Just want to see, feel and play the 17mm neck thickness as opposed to my strat thickness which is about 22mm. The thinner neck thickness may help me reach better width wise on the neck to the 5th and 6th strings.

The scale length doesn't really bother me that much as its not to bad. I'm just thinking that a thinner neck thickness will help me reach the 5th and 6th strings a little better with the pinky.

Don't know how long you've been playing but for years I thought I couldn't form those more delicate shapes do to these meathooks I've got for fingers.

Time solved that. Also so did my form.

If you are looking at that price tag maybe go for a used Modulus. I LOVE mine. Best guitar for the money.

That is an option as well. I'm going to do a lot of research on this. Im not really in a hurry since I have the strat but just want to make sure it fits me well. That's my number one criteria.

my bad, i thought we were talking streching accross several frets as in soloing stuff--which my small hands have issues with--not the nut width for chording.

It does drive me crazy when trying to learn something like Jimi where he wrapped his thumb around to fret the top strings while chording the bottom strings with his fingers...impossible for someone like me
