The short version is that I was re reading the Denis Mcnally book A Long Strange Trip, and he mentions that they went into the studio in '84, it didn't go well evidently. I got curious and looked on the archive and found this! The Bucket is kind of great, actually its all great, sort of peak behind the curtain. And being that most of it is only Phil and Bobby it's really easy to focus on Bobby's tone and playing which is pretty outstanding in these clips. Some of the alternate lyrics are cool too.

Yea I thought so too. I have to confess I focus so much on Garcia when listening to the GD, it's kind of nice to have Bobby right out in front. His playing even here is sublime, absolutely the consummate rhythm guitarist.

That's some pretty bassy distorted tone, yet it's so focused! What the hell is the trick to that?

Seems like a cool thing to jam along to (on lead guitar).
