Guys,

Listen to the Bertha solo (or Mr. Charlie, etc.) and can anyone tell me how Jerry is getting that sweet drive tone from his Twin?

What I already know-

'59 tv yellow LP double cutaway w P-90s
1968 Fender Twin silver/blackface circuit
JBL D-120F speakers
Bass at 0, Treble at 10, Middle to taste
Volume at 7

Much obliged to anyone who can help me solve the mystery.

What does your beef with TL have to do with my question ?? Like, you already have a thread for THAT topic. So why not, you know, post there... or say something helpful instead.

Wait a second. I answered you with very relevant information pertaining to your question. He is a part of the Garcia Estate and is known to be in the GD circle, why would his name not be helpful to you in possibly finding out the answers to your questions?

He knows the techs who were there how is that not helpful?

What is your beef with me is the real question?! If you did not like my reply, you did not need to reply! A thank you was all that was needed from you, nobody owes anybody anything here!

Your reply was to direct me back to a guy who you are currently flaming on a thread that you started. So your best answer is to tell me to ask a guy you are trying to expose as a liar? Real helpful.

I guess if the question doesn't pertain to the minutiae of the irreducible complexity of Jerry's 80's rig, you have nothing to offer... except sarcasm.

Basically 3 cranked Twin Reverbs, 2 Fender 4x12 cabinets, JBL D120 speakers until sometime late '72 I believe.
For very short durations, I will turn the Twin to 7-8, but it jut gets louder without any breakup- at all. As designed I guess. Pulled 2 power tubes trick- nope. Tried the attenuator and it wasn't even close. Hate to resort to pedals, but no other solution in sight.

Not sure if it was being used then, but there was a master volume of some sort involved at some point. Also, playing thru 3 twin reverb power sections would make a difference. I'm surprised you can't get brake up.
The bass on zero and treble on ten really only applies when using the twin reverb preamp section into a seperate power amp such as a McIntosh. When using the Twin's power section, you need to add a little bass and a little less treble.

Ok, I have two Twins in front of me as I type. If I disconnect the speakers on #1 and daisy chain it to #2 can I use the power section of #1 to drive #2?
Daisy chain yes. Disconnect speakers no. Each amp has to see at least one speaker. Jerry used 8 speakers with three twins.
