I was there as well.......the unexpected sort of happened. I had early entrance ticket to get a signed poster. Went in picked-up my poster. Steve is in the back of the venue and asks if anyone would like a photo. Our little group says sure. As I was standing next to Steve for the photo, I casually thanked him for sharing his gear knowledge etc. on the internet boards. He said "Yeah, no problem" After the quick photo, doors were opening, we went off to find a spot. About 3 minutes later, tap on my shoulder, it was Steve. He says "follow me" What? He takes me backstage, then onto the stage saying, " I want to show you some stuff". He goes he goes into the detail on his rig. I tell him about my SMS/Mac rig....he says he has a MC2300 at home. Then he puts me on his stool and lets me check out his Strat and Scott Walker. He is using a Twin Reverb Head and 2 JBL D140's. He had some wah pedal....his Mutron was unplugged but laying behind the amp. I then peer down at the Twin Reverb to look at his settings. Steve says, " Oh I have to adjust those settings now, treble 10, bass 0 mid noon" ........oh, naturally.
Was there for about 15 minutes. Really, a true thrill for an amateur Jerry player like myself. All I can say is that Steve, who I have never met in my life, was one of the most gracious, kind human beings I have ever met!
I took a quick photo, that's Steve to the left.
