With that budget, I would look at the Phred guitars. Their stock Wolf is around $700, then you can pay more for upgrades. $1400 should get you a nice instrument. I've read numerous positive reviews of the Phred guitars. You'll have a tough time finding anything else, new or used, in your price range. Good luck!

Thank you for the reply. I just missed out on a Phred that was on reverb. If you order from him it’s a few months wait.

It might be worth the wait as you'll be able to get it exactly as you want it. My custom Alembic Further took 2.5 years, which sucked at the time, but I got it exactly how I wanted it and the wait was no longer an issue once I had it in my hands.

I may be interested in selling this "wolfcaster" . It is not a replica, but built in the spirit of wolf. Let me know if you are interested. I wanted to get 1500 for it, and wasn't quite ready to let go, because I love it and it is my number 1, but would consider 1400 if you are really hot to trot on it. I am doing my own builds now, and the white strat in the other picture included in the link is my replacement for this wolfcaster and is becoming gig worthy, although I may sell that one too to fund new builds for approximately the same price. It is an awesome guitar, as well.
Some notes on the wolfcaster: According to the seller of the neck on ebay, the neck is a Warmoth 5a flame maple neck with a brazilian rosewood board, 6100 frets, 10-16 inch compound radius and it is the les paul 59 roundback shape (similar to PRS). I don't know how verify it is Brazilian Rosewood, but it is a bad ass neck. It has a maple and mahogany body made by Troy Post, D. Allen Voodoo 69's, Wald TPC-1 buffer and OBEL, all electronics done by Brian at IO Custom Guitars, with a Schaller 475 bridge. https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipM ... FUX1RwWDl3

Are those 3-minute eggs or hard boiled?

Ha! Yeah, that was kind of a spur of the moment post. My head is just swimming with new builds I need to fund! Those eggs are almost as hard as the maple on that neck.

A bit above your target, but a nice looking Troy Post Wolf (and a Tiger) just popped up on Ebay.
