Hi, I'm doing some archival research on the Grateful Dead and SF in the 60s music scene. I keep noticing this flag or logo and I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the band:
here kid waving it at the Great Human Be-In


then slightly different one at press conference at 710 ashbury for the pot bust in 1967

Googled, "8 leaved plant" found this pic:

Yep. This can be explained by the Fibonacci sequence, i.e. the golden ratio...specifically, phyllotaxis...
