Has anyone used one of these for a Bobby tone? There's one on my local craigslist, and I talked the guy down to $200. It looks like it's in good shape, minus a small tear in the grill cloth.

I'm after both a late 70's tone, and his 1990 tone (specifically on the Spring 1990 box set), which to my ear only really differ by the amount of sustain.

I know that many guys on here rave about the JC77 as the "Bobby in a box", but I don't think I've seen anyone mention the JC55.

What do you guys think?

It's basically a smaller version of the JC77, which is a smaller version of the JC120.

It's has lower power, (2) 8" speakers and no high treble control.

I would think it would be ok, depending on how much volume you need.

The JC77 can get pretty loud. If it's not loud enough, you're in the wrong band.

Never owned the JC55, but I bet it's a good amp. Here's a link to the manual:
