On the subject of Waldo's buffers. Since his site no longer shows his products, don't forget about the newer TPC-2. I've installed 4-5 in newer builds and love the adjustable gain.

That's interesting about the TPC-2. Based on your recommendation, I'll try one for my next guitar that needs a buffer. I'm also curious to try a Reedemer. Besides getting rave reviews, the price is right.

I keep the gain on my tpc2 about a 1/4 turn from its lowest point. Pretty sweet.

For a drop in solution on a Strat the blasters great. I used one on my original Wolf and love it. For a blaster in an obel equipped guitar you are paying for a fancy brass plate and jack and the cutting the wires and tossing them. The TPC2 is comparable and less$$ without needing to modify anything.
