Hey now,
I have considered switching the baffle in my old tweed Princeton to a larger 10" or even 12". I have an old piece of pine furniture that I could cut into a baffle, I am just wondering how suitable pine would be. What are the old Fender tweed cabinets made of? Pine?
Any comments or recommendations?

Actually the solid board isn't quite wide enough anyway :(

I had always heard early Fenders were pine.

"WHY PINE? Tired of your heavy and tone dead cab? Some early guitar speaker cabinets were made from pine and are known for their warmer top end and big woody lower midrange and lows. Some online cab builders are fetching top dollar for a pine cabinet. I've sold thousands of these pine cabs. I've sold nearly a thousand on ebay too. Pine cabs are again gaining popularity to numerous guitarist. "

Interesting- Tim is now making pine "Hard Truckers" style cabs- with a baltic birch baffle.
