Thought this could be interesting. The other one from 12/8/73 at around 25mins gets pretty weird.

Playing in the Band from 6/8/74 at about 14 min. Phil starts doing some feedback that sounds like a tortured elephant.

The jam off "Cryptical" on "Hundred Year Hall" is pretty creepy!

Right after this recording was released in 1995 I was listening to it while working alone in a warehouse at about 2:30am. I had been working since 8am that morning and I was getting pretty tired and was starting to see "ghosts" walking by in my peripheral vision. The CD player was quite a distance away and it was BLASTING. Things were going swimmingly, THEN the Dead, Jerry and Phil specifically, got into some extremely weird stuff. I was frozen with fear. Honest. Being so tired with this crazy stuff in my ears I was convinced there was "something" around the next corner! I thought: "I'm not moving until this CD ends!" Lol. Once "Comes A Time" broke, I felt it safe enough to go turn off the CD player and go the hell home for some sleep!!!

Louisville 8-16-74 gets pretty weird before the "It's a Sin" jam, which is awesome.

10/27/79! Cape Cod Coliseum. The Other One is very intense and scary! Try it!

It's that crackling energy the band exhibited at times during this era. Freaky stuff for sure.

How about Halloween 1991 with Ken Kesey rapping during the jam after the Dark Star.

That Halloween jam was awesome- I was there. First off its Halloween in Oakland -which is a trip in and of itself. We took BART over full of wild-ass dressed up hippies. Lets out right at the baseball stadium and walk over to coliseum. Bill Graham had just been killed in helicopter accident and the mood was blue. Show opens with a trippy Help>Slip>Franklins-which is always a good sign. Second set they do Dark Star with the Kesey rap and Jerry just wailing in the background like Ornette Coleman. Thousands of notes all staccato and fast and a little scary. Kesey poetry spoken over this cacophony of sound. "How do you like your blue-eyed boy now...Mr Death". It really felt like some kind of beat poetry, scary, push the limits kind of thing. Wild night!

I'm fond of this one since it was my first show. And if you can picture a 16 year old kid, fully immersed in the experience as it were, you can imagine that this space was pretty mind blowing.

Quoth the Raven: 'Nevermore! or was it, NEVERMORE!' No, no, not the dentist drill! More nitrous!!!
