Why would you say that? Have they done this before with patches?

No, there has never been an official release of this show before.
Charlie Miller's SBD source is with AUD patches due to missing the reel flips and other "spotty sections".
Was talking about them using patches because Charlie's SBD is from reels as well and if DaP20 are "NOT" different source reels, a patch will be necessary

https://archive.org/details/gd1981-12-0 ... eok.flac16

Source SBD -> Master Reel (7 inch Reel @ 7.5ips 1/2trk) -> Dat -> CD

Patch Info:
Sennheiser 421 -> Master Cassette -> CD (By Jim Wise) supplies:
Bird Song (last 8 seconds - post song tuning)
Mama Tried (complete song)
Mexicali Blues (0:00 - 1:38)
Scarlet Begonias (6:20 - 7:35)
Space (4:52 - end of track)
The Other One (0:00 - 4:19)

* And it's a Jim Wise source. :hail:

Notes:
-- All disc changes are seamless
-- I cleaned up many flaws and fixed the patches

Further proof that Dave ain't no musician ... one of the biggest trainwrecks ever on Jack Straw. No way would Jer or Phil let that one out the door.

Yes about that Jack Straw for sure... and definitely a head-scratching choice of shows.
I wonder what Dave's Seaside chat will mention?

This kind of thing reminds me of when Cutler and Parish went through the 1990 outtakes from that really fine Jerry Garcia Band live double record after Jerry passed and came out with the How Sweet it Is live record ... just listen to the Tough Mama on that one, Garcia forgets about half the words. Jerry always listened very carefully to what was released and picked the best of the best.

It's hard to find an entire Dead show without something minor amiss here or there but a major clam like that?

Can't wait for them to pull Seattle 6-13-80 with Garcia's guitar badly out of tune on the Alabama Getaway encore. It was so bad they actually opened with Alabama the next night in Spokane. Do over!

So what I meant was, have they had any Daves Picks releases with these kinds of patches?

Sorry about that, not that I'm aware of. I do know DL likes to talk about complete-ness and the known reels out there is missing music, I would assume (maybe) that they would have to.
I know DaP8 (11-30-80) was a matrix, but that is not "patches"

Now that I think of it, the last installment of DaP19 (1-23-70) Hawaii, had Casey Jones cut (w/ no patches)... obviously, due to no audience sources available and Bear running out of reel, the reason for the cut... So now I'm head scratching.

Gonna dig into that query

DaP 4 has a patch in Slipknot! That's the first one that comes to mind.

Lemeieux played LLR>China>Rider and Estimated>He's Gone on Sirius 82 today and it, I MUST SAY, sounded really tasty. :P :P

Got an inqury in for the reels used (lineage)... hopefully some type of answer.

@Lunchbox16 great call on the "Slipknot" patch info

On http://www.dead.net they have the Listening party of Bird Song, & China>Rider. (DaP20)

If you go onto archive and listen to Charlie's transfer on Bird Song at the 9:02 mark (audience & tuning), you'll hear the very same source on dead.net's sample.

So my guess is a patch was used (Jim Wise's), cuz Charlie's note state just that.

Well I'm half way through the Bird Song, and I'm not impressed so far!
'Course I've been wrong before LOL! Definitelydont see what the big deal is.
Those first couple songs were rough ,lotta bad note choices.I don't hear much of Phil either.
This is a real head scratcher for me.
