I saw a video of jerry round 94ish when the gd was playing somewhere...and he was playing it differently...He used a A chord to start it off strumming while picking the bass notes A and E alternately...and etc, so if this gets any replies then I will tab it out...but for now...happy pickin'...

peace

I think the dead usually played it that way, up a whole step from what is shown here (starting on A instead of G), on all the tapes I have anyway.

The chords are:
A, D, A
A, A/G#, F#m, C#m
D, A
A, A/G#, F#m
A, D, A

after checking it out, it does sound like it is in A, good call

I like playin' this one in C...

C F C
C Am/B Am Am/E Em
F C Am/B Am
C F C

I've always liked the alternating C G bass notes... and this is one of my favourite tunes to use it on.

I've always played it in G. The Bm comes in very nicely. Could have sworned I settled on the key after playing along to some tape, but I guess I'm wrong. A is nice too!

I've always played it in A. I also noticed a timing change, at some point, that I never warmed up to. A longer pause between phrases where they vamped on the A for an extra measure or so.

I like the flow without that hesitation.

sorry, i put the name of the chord in the subject and you can barley read it, it is A/G#

it means you play an A chord but use a G# in the bass instead of an A.

E-----
B--2--
G--2--
D--2--
A-----
E--4--
