Is this an Irwin?

Personally, I think this listing is insane...no provenance but $175K...

Maybe Lieber will weigh in.

Says it was made for John Cale (Velvet Underground co founder). He's 71 and still around playing. Wonder if he knows it's for sale? Hopefully, the seller has tried to contact him.

You'd think for $175,000, he would throw in the shipping....

My best guess would be Bruce Becvar, although the head stock shape is not like anything I've seen from people building in the "hippie sandwich" tradition back in the 70's (Becvar, Dolan, Alembic, Lieber, Irwin, etc...)

^Good call - I'd bet Becvar. Seems like I saw this guitar once -(I think there was a discussion on the Alembic forum years ago).

Nuts. Maybe he is hoping someone will hit the "buy it now" BY ACCIDENT? Or more shrewdly he could be looking for PR to raise the value.
