It only took two years from the original request, but there is now a "Grateful Dead References" menu item on the main page, under the tabs.

This is a new one I found that has lots information under the Grateful Dead heading. It includes songs by Kingfish, Jerry Band covers (Lucky old sun) and some other oddities. Plus it is the best place to find tabs for The Ventures.

I would assume that most basic music theory textbooks start with that or at least address reading music early on. You might just want to skip that chapter and move on to things you need.
