You guys are cruel.

I for one like Mayer and didn't love John K. Further sounded like a GD cover band. With Mayer the music has taken a fresh twist.

If I wanted to relive what I heard 30 years ago I would go to a DSO show. Dead and Co to me sounds more vital and vibrant.

Anyhow....Here is to JM's speedy recovery.

Mayer has learned a lot from the Dead. He has brought a new generation to shows. I like what he plays better than Trey did in 2015.

That being said, Kadlecik in Furthur was my favorite after Jerry. I believe he could step into Mayer’s shows and never miss a note.

Best wishes to JM for a speedy recovery.

All due respect to J.K. But originally the drummers did not want a Jerry player, that is one reason they went with Mayer.
I think a good choice for fill in would be Warren. He plays in his own style, is used to playing with Oteil, and does the Jerry songs justice with good vocals. If it was me I would have picked him from day one. Just my opinion.

Warren is great but he doesn’t really get funky enough.
